Acupuncture is typically not painful, but the sensation can vary from person to person. During an acupuncture session, very thin needles are inserted into specific points on the body. Most people feel a slight pinch or a tingling sensation when the needles are inserted. Once the needles are in place, some may experience a feeling of heaviness, warmth, or a mild ache, which is a normal response. Generally, any discomfort is minimal and temporary. Acupuncture is designed to be a relaxing and therapeutic experience, and many people find it to be quite soothing. If you feel significant pain or discomfort during your session, it’s important to inform your practitioner so they can adjust the needles or technique as needed.
